Accelerating Action

What an interesting theme for International Women’s Month to rally people all over the globe – accelerating action! To me, that means putting the pedal to the metal and getting involved in actual work to raise the profile of women in industries of all types. I’m proud that I’ve been working with more professional women this 1st quarter of the year than ever before – all to “raise the bar” and “present their best selves”. It’s hands on work that every professional woman craves, and we are making it happen!

Now, about to turn 60, Brooke Shields is the CEO of a haircare line, the President of the Actors Union, the star of a one-woman show, an empty nester raising two college-age daughters, and a 3-time author. ‘Brooke Shields Isn’t Allowed to Get Old’ is the title of her latest book as she shares the brutal, but liberating realities of aging in front of the world. Someone asked me: “Is she smart?” Yes. “Was she as real in person?” Yes. Brooke is the only celebrity I’ve ever interviewed who said: “Ask me anything. Nothing is off limits.”” And that’s how she’s living this next decade – candid, brash, funny, true to herself!

What better way to commemorate 40 years as a law firm than to invest in the community and invest in female lawyers? Berger Singerman is the business law firm that serves all of Florida, and I’ve been sharing some dinner roundtables with these powerhouse legal minds to upgrade their personal branding, share best practices, and fine tune their presentation and networking skills. In a world of billable hours, generating business and making partner, it’s easy to forget simple ways of branding yourself to the outside world, such as a catchy LinkedIn page! But our brainstorming sessions are paying off – these women are writing each other’s stories beautifully!
