Stepping way out of my comfort zone - I wasn't sure how this would go! Could I really throw a baseball pitch without making a total fool of myself in front of a packed ballpark? Even my 17-year-old twin boys weren't certain if they wanted to be seen with me on the field, but in the end, they walked out flanking their mom, and I pulled it off!! It wasn't stellar, but it was passable and hopefully a great lesson for my boys that it's more important to try than to be perfect.
Good luck to our Marlins! We know they'll secure their spot in the playoffs!

Best Part of Summer:
Blue Missions
It was the most rugged, uncomfortable challenge my kids have ever undertaken - and they didn't want to come home. They'll tell you the best part of their summer was working in the mountain villages of the Dominican Republic without running water, Wi-Fi or bathrooms. It's called "BLUE Missions," and this Miami-based charity has been running service trips for the past 12 years to bring running water and sanitation to remote villagers. My teenage boys were completely immersed in the local food, culture and people, and they wanted to stay longer. Trips are available during Spring Break and summer for high school and college students. It's a once-in-a-lifetime shared human experience that will stay with your kids forever.

Go ahead and just love your life! Take pictures of everything. Tell people you love them. Talk to random strangers. Do the things you're afraid of. Stop playing small. Take your life and make it the best story ever written.

A Few College-hunting Tips! |

Start early in 10th grade visiting campuses whenever you're traveling and filling out all the basic info on the Common App. Get familiar with it and what your child will need to work toward at the local, regional, state, and national levels to make themselves stand out.
Watch virtual tours on YouTube, YouVisit and college IG admissions pages. If your child doesn't like the look and feel of a school online, they probably won't like it in person, so take it off the list!
Decide if your high school's college counselors can meet your needs, or if you need the help of a private counselor. They come in all price ranges from per hour to fixed rate. The earlier they get to know your child, the better!
When senior year hits, keep taking deep breaths - it helps!!
